We acknowledge the importance of positive wellbeing and mental health and recognise that students and families may require assistance. Various organisations and charities offer valuable guidance and support to young people and families, addressing a wide spectrum of issues. We kindly encourage you to explore the provided links to access expert advice, coping strategies, and recommendations for promoting positive wellbeing and mental health. King Edward VI School is committed to safeguarding, equality of opportunity, and promoting the welfare of young people, and expects all in our community to share this commitment. For safeguarding matters, our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mr Chris Dunford. Should you have concerns regarding the welfare or safety of a child, please do not hesitate to contact us at safeguarding@kes.net. If a student wishes to raise a pastoral or safeguarding concern they are encouraged to speak to their Head of School or tutor, but can also report anonymously via Share. Further advice and resources can be found in the menus on the left hand side or on via Warwickshire's Family Information Service. Prevent Duty As part of our safeguarding responsibilities, King Edward VI School is fully committed to fulfilling its obligations under the Prevent Duty, as outlined in Section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015. We recognise that some students may be vulnerable to radicalisation or extremist ideologies, and we take proactive steps to identify and support those at risk. Our approach includes; safeguarding and online safety policies, staff training, risk assessments, clear referral pathways, and a curriculum that promotes fundamental British values. The School works closely with local safeguarding partners and follows national guidance to ensure that all students are protected from the risks of extremism and terrorism. A link to the Warwickshire Prevent can be accessed here. Operation Encompass As part of our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and their families, King Edward VI School is part of Operation Encompass. This national initiative is a police and education early intervention partnership that supports children and young people who are exposed to domestic abuse. When the police attend a domestic abuse incident involving a child at our school, they will inform our Designated Safeguarding Lead prior to the start of the next school day.
