Welcome to the Sixth Form

The Sixth Form at King Edward VI School offers many exciting opportunities which will prove both challenging and rewarding. Within a caring, friendly and structured environment you will be encouraged to realise your full potential both in your academic studies and in the ways in which you learn to interact with others – your peers, our staff and, crucially, our younger members of the School community. As a K.E.S. Sixth Former you will also have the opportunity to take on new responsibilities and commitments. These will help you develop skills including independent study, self-reliance and time management. The induction and transition programme has been developed to ensure that all students settle quickly into Sixth Form life. My own vision of a successful Sixth Form is one of a hard-working environment where students have to organise their time effectively in order to ensure they can become involved in a broad range of activities; where both the academic and the extra-curricular are valued and celebrated; where everything is underpinned by close pastoral guidance; a place which is characterised by tolerance, a spirit of intellectual enquiry, and a sense of humour.
